Summer Decor Ideas for your Master Bedroom

Not too long ago, I shared a post on five essential tips for the ultimate master bedroom summer refresh here.  It inspired me to put what I had shared into action in our own space by adding new summer bedding and updated lighting. 

Our bedroom has a light feel throughout the year but can easily shape into the season by adding some aspects like heavier/lighter textiles. It has white walls (you can read about my paint colors here) and lighter color furniture. Having a “neutral base” is my decorating advice for any space in your home. I hopped online and began searching through Walmart’s summer home decor. I had found so many amazing items for my teen daughter’s summer bedroom refresh, that I knew it would be the perfect place to find pieces for our master bedroom.

Walmart has a vast array of home furniture, bedding, and home decor items that can be shipped right to our front door. Plus, many Walmart Home items are affordable (don’t miss these deals, too!). I immediately started finding the perfect summer bedding ideas for our bedroom.

My plan was to bring in some contrasting colors with accent pillows and more streamlined lighting by our bed. Mission accomplished! Check out the after below. Here are my summer decor ideas for the master bedroom.

Summer Bedding Ideas And Updated Lighting

Bedding Idea: Chenille White 3-piece Quilt Set

This is no surprise to those of you who have been following me for a while. If you go back to any of my bedroom posts, regardless of the season, I always recommend a white quilt for your bed. The white quilt spreads out over the bed and creates a foundation for the seasonal bedding. 

I’ve never had a chenille quilt set, and this one is an incredible value (plus it’s gorgeous)! The texture it added to our bed was unique. Plus, it is very lightweight for the summer.  Win-win!

Bedding Idea: White Duvet 3-piece Set

A very affordable way to add white or lighter-colored textiles to your bedding is by swapping out your duvet covers and pillow shams.  This white duvet set I found from Walmart did the trick!

I love how a duvet folded at the base of your bed adds a super cozy layer of fluffiness!

Bedding Idea: Contrasting Decorative Pillows

I fell in love with all the pillows I found at Walmart! These grey pillows are such a great summer touch; not only are they linen (perfect for summer), but they also have a grey and white fringe around them.

More chenille? Yes, please! How good are these navy chenille pillows?

I am head over heels about them and how they look on our bed for summer. 

Lastly, I love a good stripe, and with the chunky tassel details, this pillow was the icing on the cake for our summer bedding.  Plus, it has all the contrasting colors plus white in one, making it an “inspiration piece” here.  Inspiration pieces bring a room together perfectly.

Summer Decor Idea: Updated, Slender Lighting

While I loved the overall look of our bedside lamps, they did take up a lot of space on our tables.  I wanted something to free up this valuable space while still giving us good lighting. The answer? Hang a wall sconce!

I couldn’t resist adding the same plug-in swing arm sconce I used in my teen daughter’s bedroom refresh! Plug-in arm sconce is seriously a cozy factor game changer. I love having wall sconces in a bedroom, and this one elevated the entire design immediately. Plus, it was so easy to hang.  When we stay up later at night, this cozy sconce will be perfect.
