This post is all about farmhouse patriotic decor to celebrate the 4th of July. (PLUS, I am including a tip that shares how you can create a large wall flag for under $8!) Scroll down to check out these tips and more.
Welcome to our home, decorated and ready to celebrate the 4th of July! I am excited to show you around and how I used patriotic farmhouse decor this year. You can also check out a patriotic home tour that I shared a couple of years ago here.
Each summer, toward the end of June, I end up adding red, white, and blue to our home. I was on the hunt for bright and cheery decor that was budget-friendly and knew right where to go. I headed to my local JOANN which is where I found a wonderful variety of patriotic farmhouse decor items and couldn’t wait to get home and style them.
As soon as you arrive at our home, you see the patriotic front door which includes a hanging basket full of these red, white, and blue carnation bunches. I used four bunches for this full look then added American flags I already had on hand. American flags are the essence of a 4th of July farmhouse look.
To top the look off, I added this cute Welcome Stars doormat. You know how much I love the layered rug look for a front door. You can check out how to create this look for spring here.
I want to first show you how the entryway looked before adding the under $8 American flag. I really like the patriotic farmhouse look as is, but felt like it was missing something. Now, check out the view below to see what it looks like with a “flag” above the bench. It’s actually this Americana scarf, unfolded and draped on our photo ledge. How easy and budget-friendly is that for a large flag?
Pretty cool, right?! These red chambray fringe pillows are perfect for a farmhouse look too. You can create a less full look by taking away the two white pillows and then placing this cute GATHER HERE pillow in the middle. I loved the fuller look for the 4th.
Pro tip: When placing pillows on a bench or sofa, using an odd number works best. Again, a total of three or five pillows work great here. Up to you!
Think outside the box for home decor like using patriotic candy! I found these fun red, white, and blue tootsie rolls at JOANN and knew they could add an inexpensive (and yummy) option for decor. I used a footed bowl I already had on hand and poured two bags in. To top it off, I used this Americana bandana!
Another spot I added some patriotic decor was here on our dining room console table. My husband DIY-ed this rustic centerpiece box and I filled it was a festive garland (a similar one here) to create our 4th of July look. Then, just by adding two more American flags to a clear vase, this table was ready!
Moving into our kitchen, I added some mum arrangements from JOANN. They coordinated with the garland I found too. For a similar look, you can utilize these patriotic carnation bushes and place them inside of a mason jar. Adding a cute ribbon like this one here would be the icing on the cake when creating your own.
I had originally planned to place the arrangements symmetrically by the sink but loved how it added a splash of red, white, and blue to this corner vignette here.
As you can see, this is how cute the other one looked by our sink. Consider this tip of adding the splashes of color around your room not just in one concentrated area.
That concludes my 4th of July patriotic farmhouse decor tour for this year! What is your favorite part of this decor? I hope you enjoyed these ideas and will give them a go in your own home.
