Summer Home Tour 2021: Kitchen, Bathroom, And Teen Girls Room

A couple of weeks ago, I shared my top ten amazing summer home decor tips to try in this post HERE. I discuss how adding items like greenery, sea glass pieces, summer scented candles, and shades of blue are perfect for a nice light feel during these warm months. All of the tips are found here.

Summer Home Tour: Kitchen

One way to get your kitchen “summer-ready” is to hit reset on the kitchen countertops. I have found that taking everything off your flat spaces will “quiet” space and allow creativity to flow. In the summer, less can be more, so when you are placing things back on your surfaces, ask yourself if you truly love what you are setting out and does it serve a function (and it can be because it’s pretty to look at, haha!). “Quieting” is exactly what I did to our kitchen, and it feels fresh again.  I choose not to set back out a few things again so that things will feel lighter and brighter during the summer months. Each item either serves a purpose or is something I love looking at.

I love having summer scents lit in our home, and this Peach Apricot candle is making our home smell like a perfect summer day! A few of my other favorite scents include Lemon Eucalyptus, Grapefruit, and Pineapple Coconut. Check out these bundle deals to try out your favorite(s).

Pro tip: Do you have a large island? Use two trays and/or bowls instead of one to create a lovely look on your kitchen island.

Our kitchen used to have dark brown cabinets a few years back, with black countertops. Summer Home Tour: Bathroom

Recently my girls and I did a quick makeover of their bathroom. One of the best ways to brighten your bathroom for summer? Add a light shower curtain in place of a darker one.  Their bathroom had a green-blue shower curtain before, and just by replacing it with white instantly brightened the space!

Pro tip: Can’t find a shower curtain you love? Try using two curtain panels instead! That is how we created this look in my girls’ bathroom.

Clearly, teen girls love faux plants (and I don’t blame them!).  I love how they look around a bathroom sink and on top of a cute plant stand like this one here.

We also added fresh towels, a round jute rug, and additional seagrass baskets to complete the overall look.

Summer Home Tour: Teen Girls Room

This is my middle daughter’s bedroom, refreshed for summer—just a few simple and budget-friendly pieces updated this space to feel light and airy.   I shared five essential tips for a summer bedroom here, including rugs, greenery, bedding, decor, and wall art. We applied many of these to Abby’s room. 

 

Pro tip: Don’t replace the entire bedding if you don’t need/want to! Just remove heavier linens and only use lighter-weight blankets and sheets.  Simply add fun summer pillows your teen loves! Easy and budget-friendly!

I have to say, I was a bit hesitant about the other item we incorporated for summer, this ivy garland.  But now that it is up, I really love it.  What do you think? For her photo wall, we simply added prints off her own camera roll and a mix of these curated ones here.
