Welcome friend, I am so thrilled you are here at our summer home tour, where I will be sharing our light and airy master bedroom, living room, and dining room. If you came from my friend Laura of Inspiration for Moms, wasn’t her tour so inspiring? I loved what she shared. And, a big thank you to Krista of The Happy Housie for hosting this exciting home summer tour series.
“I love how summer just wraps its arms around you like a warm blanket.” – Kellie Elmore.
A couple of weeks ago, I shared my top ten amazing summer home decor tips to try in this post HERE. I discuss how adding items like greenery, sea glass pieces, summer scented candles, and shades of blue are perfect for a nice light feel during these warm months. All of the tips are found here.
Can you spot all of the greenery? One of my favorite ways to use greenery is placing faux plants or oversized faux stems in baskets. If you follow me on Instagram here, I shared a fun reel on how to use this simple decor trick in your home in multiple places.
What do you spy in the photo above? If you guessed all the various textures, you are right haha! You probably have heard decorators talk about how texture can add great interest and dimension to spaces in your home, and that couldn’t be more true.
Some of my favorite summer textures are seen here, including:
A few days ago, I shared three farmhouse fireplace decor steps to try in your own home in this post HERE. It is my tried and true, easy fireplace formula that can be used each season.
As an overview of this formula, choose an anchor piece like our wooden “Blanks” home sign and place it on your mantel. Think about the top of your anchor piece as the top point of a triangle, then imagine with your eyes drawing down the lines to complete the triangle. The other two points (one on each side) are where you want to fill in to “complete the triangle.” The key is to choose pieces that add interest and are in line with your theme or style.

Are you a faux or real house plant person? Regardless, this summer home decor tip doesn’t have any biases! Just use them, faux or real. I loved adding faux plants to these spots for summer: the mantel, our kitchen, on a living room trunk, and in our dining room. The more, the merrier I am finding! An extra tip? Put the plant in a basket as I did here in our dining room corner.
A plant in a basket is one of my favorite ways to fill an empty corner. And for added height, set atop an accent stool. And, I have been adding personal memorabilia back into the walls of our home, like the framed photo above, and have been loving it!
Blue and green go hand in hand, so when sea glass was not just a traditional summer go-to but also a major trend this year, I knew this gorgeous look had to find a place in our home too. Sea glass pieces can be placed together or spread out. If you are using smaller, votive-sized sea glass pieces, grouping them on a tray or in a low, open bowl with battery tea candles is a lovely look! Or, go big! Choose sea glass hurricanes to sit on your mantel and add battery-powered candles for a cozy glow in the summer evenings.
I found these amazing chippy shutters a few weeks ago at one of my favorite barn sales, Vintage Pickin’. Aren’t they so cool and full of great texture? For now, I have them leaning against our walls.
I love suggesting a white quilt for the bottom layer of your bed. Then, you can swap out the blankets and duvet/comforters with the seasons. We have really enjoyed having a bench at the base of our bed too. It’s a great place to put your shoes on in the mornings or gather things you need for the day ahead. And, an area rug under your bed helps ground the space.
That concludes my summer home tour 2021, featuring our living room, dining room, and master bedroom. Do you have a space that was your favorite in this tour?

What a beautiful home! I love the area rug in your living room, the pattern is so simple and it looks very cozy. I have to get the rug in my living room deep cleaned by a rug cleaner every several months because it gets so dirty with my kids and pets. I’m considering just replacing the rug, and I would love to get the one you have!
