Summer’s here in Birmingham, Alabama, and I’m super excited! Over the last few weeks, I’ve been taking down our spring decorations and putting up summer decorations.

At the end of this post, there are 27 other bloggers who have made summer home tours for you to check out. Thank you to my dear friend, Kelly from The Tattered Pew, for making this series happen. Don’t miss her beautiful home in Colorado.
And if you’re here from Jennifer at Cottage on Bunker Hill, welcome! She has excellent ideas about transitioning your home decor from spring to summer.
I’ve made some changes to our home over the years. I switched from farmhouse-style decor to a more modern farmhouse style, plus I painted the walls and changed the flooring. I like to update things and surprise you with new ideas each year!
As you make your way into our home, I am thrilled to share with you the rustic bench and other summer-inspired decor pieces in the entryway. Lamentations 3 sign (discount code: SHEGAVEITAGO) speaks a beautiful word to those coming in and leaving our home. I love this piece!
The warm tones of the books and the natural textures of the pottery vases are an excellent backdrop for the chippy bench and sea artwork above the dresser.
Vital elements for summer home decor in our entryway are:
Stay awhile in our cozy living room with simple coastal touches. Neutral-toned sofas are the perfect backdrop for the summer hand-knit blue colossal pillows. I am a bit obsessed with these pillows!
Protip: If you are using several neutral-colored pillows, don’t forget to add ones with various textures for more interest and depth.
Additional subtle coastal details really make this room stand out are shell accents and sea-inspired artwork. The mantel is kept simple with a lovely colossal hand-knit throw inside a basket, gold sconces, and The Frame TV art.
I really enjoyed styling our coffee table for Summer. Corraling items on a tray or basket is always a good idea!

Now, let’s move on to the next stop on our tour: the dining room.
This space has classic farmhouse elements, such as the rustic wooden table and planter, but the handcrafted conch shell steals the show this summer. The size of this accent piece adds a touch of luxury to the otherwise understated decor.
I simply placed wood beads coming out of it to complete the look. Lastly, I replaced our horse artwork with a light and airy piece.
