How To Make An Upcycled Pine Cone Christmas Ornament

Crafts | November 18, 2020

Small trees can be decorated with ornaments too! I had some leftover Christmas picks that I upcycled to make these pine cone Christmas ornaments.  By simply using what I had on hand, I was able to create festive ornaments for our smaller trees.

How To Make An Upcycled Pine Cone Christmas Ornament

This simple pine cone Christmas ornament was made from some leftover Christmas picks. You can see below what they looked like before I dismantled them.  In this post, I am going to walk you through how I easily transformed them into ornaments.

Ornament supplies including the Christmas picks that inspired these.

Upcycled Christmas Ornaments Supplies (only 3 things needed!):

  1. Christmas Picks
  2. Twine
  3. Hot Glue Gun + Glue Sticks

Add berries and greenery to the pine cone

Instructions For Making Upcycled Pine Cone Christmas Ornaments

  • Break apart the elements of the picks you have on hand.  For mine, it consisted of pinecones, berries, and greenery.
  • Turn your pine cone where to the widest side as the top of your ornament and then glue the berries on to the pine cone.
  • Once that is set, add the sprigs of greenery (I set mine facing downward and out somewhat).

Tie or hot glue twine to create a loop to hang the ornament from.

  • Next, cut a small piece of twine and create a loop.
  • Glue or tie the loop onto the back of the upcycled ornament so it can now hang on your tree.

And, that is it! Very few supplies are needed, it is time-efficient and easy to do.

I was so glad to create these upcycled ornaments from what we already had on hand and now our small trees are perfectly decorated for the holidays.  So, grab that extra Christmas greenery sitting around and see what upcycled ornament you can create…Give it a go!
