From the time I was a little girl, I can recall helping decorate the family Christmas tree. My husband and I have carried on that tradition with our own family, and had a great time this year decorating our new Balsam Hill tree and using all of the Balsam Hill ornaments. We like to put on a fun Christmas playlist off of Spotify and laugh as our kids sing and decorate.

Christmas Tree

We have enjoyed having faux trees in our home for some time now. They are so easy to set up and take down, without the hassle that a real tree can be at times (i.e., messy haha)! However, you still want your faux tree to LOOK real (so many of them on the market just don’t pass the eye test). This Balsam Hill Fraser Fir is so realistic that we were blown away. The limbs are varying lengths, and it has such pretty coloring. Plus, I don’t know about you, but pre-lit trees are almost too good to be true! This one has candlelight LED lights and makes for the prettiest glow at night and during the day.

Once my husband got the tree set up (which took only about 10 minutes), we all helped “fluff” the tree. You want to make sure the branches that may have gotten bent together or are flat are brought back to life by simply pulling them out or up to create pretty, thick branches.

Ornaments

The next step is adding the ornaments. The minute I saw this BH Farmhouse Christmas Ornament Set, I knew they were the ones for our tree. The Farmhouse Ornament set offers the exact look I love, which is a mix of various metals and textures. I don’t know about you, but I love seeing ornaments that look like they’ve been collected or even handmade, and this mixed material set is just that! Each one we pulled out of the box was so fun, including jingle bell wreaths, bells, plaid reindeer, and so many more.

Another style ornament I love is big, round, sparkling glass ornaments. These are best nestled down into the limbs to cover any holes you may have. I am so in love with the ones here that are part of the farmhouse set. The blues, reds, and silver all bring the tree to life! I move about the tree in a zig-zag pattern and alternate colors as I go down the tree. Once these are placed, I will then add the smaller ones and non-breakable ones.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved Santa and his reindeer! So when I saw these reindeer ornaments from BH, I knew they’d be the perfect, smaller ornaments to go on our tree. Aren’t they so fun?! I love the colors too. Next was adding the mixed materials ornaments, and these are ones that your children can quickly help hang on the tree. My son and daughters had a great time placing these on the tree.

Garland

Garland is timeless on a Christmas tree and comes in many forms. I have used various garland over the years, but could not be more excited about this Country Christmas garland from BH! Y’all, it is so pretty!! The mix of twine, berries, metal Christmas trees, pine cones, and greenery creates such a lovely texture and looks perfect for our farmhouse style tree. I simply draped the garland around the tree and loved the way it looks!

Christmas Tree Picks

Now it’s time to add the picks! Picks are something newer to me, but they’re quickly becoming one of my favorite parts of the tree because of the added texture and way it makes your tree look so full! These jute pinecone picks are perfect for our farmhouse style Christmas tree. I love how these picks sparkle and have pinecones on them. Simply take your picks and push them deep down into the tree toward the “trunk.” Then, bend or lift the picks stems to get it how you like it on your tree! They also look cute as a tree topper!

Tree Skirt

Now that your tree is all decorated, simply finish it off with a tree skirt! I fell head over heels for this Juliette tree skirt from Balsam Hill. It is so soft, and it’s beaded trim adds a fun sparkle to the base of your tree. It even comes with buttons to easily keep it in place.

What do y’all think? Isn’t farmhouse style such a timeworn and cozy look! The tree, ornaments, picks, garland, and skirt from Balsam Hill truly created a stunning tree for our home.

By using these various elements on your own tree, you are sure to have a lovely one in your home. At night, we enjoy turning on Silent Night, looking at the tree all aglow, and taking time to slow down and set our hearts on the true meaning of Christmas.
