Each year I love sharing holiday mantel decor ideas, and this year is I am specifically focusing on a festive farmhouse look.

Festive Farmhouse Holiday Mantel Decor Ideas

Holiday Mantel Decor Idea: Large Holiday Art Or Other Focus Piece For Your Mantel

This year was a first for me…decorating around a framed TV over my mantel. Can you relate?

Holiday Mantel Decor Idea: Greenery For Your Mantel

Incorporating greenery into your Christmas mantel decor is always a good idea!

But what you choose to use is up to you! Faux or real? Simple, draped garland or thick strands of garland with oversized jingle bells tied to them? I chose faux with a mix of flocked and unflocked garlands.  For a finishing touch, I placed some faux stems into the garland.

Protip: Use command strips to secure the greenery and additional garlands like the MERRY CHRISTMAS one in place.

You can also use wreaths to hang above your wall art (or TV) to give added height, as well as, small Christmas trees.

Holiday Mantel Decor Idea: Lights And/Or Candles For Your Mantel

Just like with greenery, you have several options when adding a cozy glow to your Christmas mantel decor and fireplace surrounds.

I love having battery-powered Christmas lights strung through the garland which is what I did here.

Another element to consider is candles (real or battery powered); the glow at night + the fire just shouts, cozy Christmas feels! Battery-powered candles lining the mantel are beautiful mixed in with the greenery.

Holiday Mantel Decor Idea: Stockings For You Mantel

“The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nick would soon be here…”, stockings are a timeless Christmas mantel decor item, aren’t they?

I enjoy seeing all kinds of stockings, from the chunky knit ones as I used here to handmade, quilted ones.  Don’t forget to add personalized stocking tags like these here!

Your children will love seeing them hung by the chimney year to year, especially when they awake Christmas morning to see them full of goodies!

Don’t forget the fireplace surround when decorating for Christmas.  A few quick decor tips:

1. Add an oversized basket to display and hold blankets and pillows
2. Place a pre-lit, smaller Christmas tree on one side of the fireplace.
3. Using real wood for your fires? Stack and display it in a log holder like this one here.
4. Stack gifts (but keep a clear distance from the actual fireplace).
5. Utilize Christmas-themed decor (make sure sizing is in proportion with your surround).
