It has been so much fun incorporating summer decor in our home this year. I chose to use lots of greenery (real and faux), lightweight textures, and farmhouse style accent pieces that reflected a welcoming summer feeling. I also loved seeing how others decorated their homes for summer. I know you will walk away inspired by all of this beautiful summer home decor.
II kicked off the early summer days with a warm and welcoming home tour that you can take here. I added some fun blue-ticking pillows (found here) perfect for summer and a lightweight blanket. I like the “less is more” look for summer. Also, I added splashes of yellow with a lemon wreath I made from a garland. It is easy to take the two ends of a garland you may already have on hand and create a circle, wrapping each end under the other. I shared how to style a summer mantel in three easy steps here, that also utilizes lemons, woods, and whites. Using greenery you already have on hand for bringing life into your home is free and easy! Creating ambiance with light layers, including lines, and having on hand a glass of cold lemonade are sure to make your family and friends smile when they are in your home.
As summer progressed, I swapped out some pieces to specifically focus on adding patriotic summer decor. I shared our full patriotic home tour here and also how to add summer decor to your front porch here. Late June and through early July is the perfect time to add patriotic decor to your home. My take on patriotic decor includes flags, a DIY burlap liberty banner (tutorial here), and other red/white/blue accessories. By adding these pieces, you will easily create a time-worn, farmhouse-style outdoor space that is sure to be warm and welcoming over those festive summertime weeks!
Janine from Happy Happy Nester shared her happy home tour here. I loved seeing all the ways she added flowers to her spaces. Her homegrown hydrangeas were such a great way to add summer decor to her home basically for free! With additional splashes of pink through pillows and blankets, she carried that bright feeling from her fresh flowers into other home decor elements. I love how beautiful it all looks, and I’m thinking pink is in my color plans for next summer at our home!
Ashley from Modern Glam shared simple summer decorating ideas here. Speaking of pink, Ashley also used pink and some blues as well in her home. This living room of hers encompasses all things bright and light! All those pillows, the lightweight tassel throw, and her use of greenery has me wishing I was sipping a glass of tea in here. You’ve got to go check out her summer bouquet ideas that are both budget-friendly and lovely! Cannot wait to utilize her tips for these in our home.
Leslie from My 100-Year-Old Home shared simple summer decor tips too here! She added oranges and pinks to her gorgeous neutral farmhouse home. One of my favorite decor ideas she shares is with her incredible DIYs! She created a stunning felt flowered pillow that you have to go check out and these delicate paper flowers above! DIYs are a great way to add budget-friendly summer decor to your home, and these are ones you’ll want to make! Of course, I love her chippy pieces, white sofas, and all these things! Go see it all for yourself.
Krista from The Happy Housie nailed the beachy summer look here. All of the gorgeous ways she added blue to her home is so inspiring. This view above is one of many spaces that she created a beach vibe, and she discusses how pillows were her primary way of creating this look. I love her DIYs too; specifically, her blue curtains that I know you’ll love. And you’ve got to go check out what is on her coffee table! She may or may not have written a book!!! Go check it all out now!
I hope your mind is spinning with inspiration now! You can see that creating a lovely yet inviting summer home doesn’t have to be complicated or too costly. These spaces emphasize how splashes of color, DIYs and fresh flowers can bring your home into the summer look you’ve always wanted. Which space speaks the most to you?
