I wanted to share my husband’s homemade BBQ sauce recipe that we’ve loved over the years. It is a savory BBQ sauce and has some spunk too. You probably have most of the ingredients already on hand and within just 25 minutes or less, you will be all set to enjoy the best homemade BBQ sauce.

This past Father’s Day, my husband received a new grill, a Pit Boss found here, and it has revived our enjoyment of grilling out again. We had not grilled as much as we would have liked because our schedules are so busy. But the Pit Boss is uniquely different in the way it works, and makes it so easy to manage the process of grilling or smoking.
He has tried all kind of meats and even a pizza on this grill, each one turning out quite delicious. Of course, there is something about grilling out that is so nostalgic, and perfect for these end of summer months and crisp fall days ahead.
With that being said, I wanted to share with you all his BBQ sauce recipe that we’ve loved over the years. It is a savory BBQ sauce and has some spunk too. You probably have most of the ingredients already on hand and within just 25 minutes or less, you will be all set to enjoy the best homemade BBQ sauce. This delicious homemade bbq sauce is worth making. It is far superior to the store-bought kind! It is perfect for chicken but is also excellent on pork and beef.
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons cumin
2 teaspoons black pepper
2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup coffee
1 cup water
1 1/2 cups ketchup
Mix dry ingredients first in a bowl.
Pour into sauce pan, adding wet ingredients while continuing to mix.
Bring to boil.
Turn down to a simmer, stirring occasionally for 10 minutes or so.
Let it set-up before you use it (place in the fridge if you have the time).
Tip: Double or triple the batch to pour into jars and store in your fridge for your next BBQ. Or, it’s a wonderful treat to gift friends and family when attending their backyard dinners this fall or tailgating with friends at a football game. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do! What do you enjoy cooking on your grill?
