School is right around the corner, and I have lunch box ideas on my mind! I am always looking for ways to provide my children with healthy food options that are easy for me to make and that they enjoy eating.
Gathering your groceries is the best way to set yourself up for success. I know this sounds obvious, but oftentimes I end up scrambling to make these lunches if I haven’t ordered or shopped for my groceries.
Once you’ve ordered/shopped your items, simply wash the produce and place them in airtight food storage containers along with the other lunch items. These are my favorite.
Now you can easily access all your fresh produce, lunch meats, and other lunch food items.
Next, you will want to think in terms of categories. What do I mean by this? Each lunch box should have protein, fruit, and veggie (carbs are optional).
That’s it; you are ready to create easy and healthy lunch box ideas for school and work mornings! Check out some examples I made below.
Salad (spring mix with carrots, grape tomatoes, and cucumbers), hummus, pita bread, turkey slices, and Monterey jack cheese.
Grilled chicken (I use Tyson frozen cooked chicken), celery sticks, blueberries, applesauce, Monterey jack cheese, and cocoa almonds.
Star cut-out sandwich (turkey, spring mix, light mayo, and mustard), hummus, pita bread, beef jerky, and berry mix (strawberries and blueberries).
Which easy lunch box idea are you loving most? Let me know in the comments below.
Making these lunches for you and your children is easy to do when you shop for your groceries ahead of time and prep the food in airtight storage containers! Then, simply mix and match from different food categories for endless healthy and delicious lunch options.
