Are you wanting to create beautiful presents this holiday season? I am sharing 5 secrets to pretty gift wrapping in this post. These 5 secrets are easy to apply and will create that gorgeous gift look you are hoping for.
I am excited to share with you five secrets to pretty gift wrapping that my sweet mother-in-law has shared with me. She is as close as they come to a professional gift wrapper haha, and when applying her secrets your gifts are sure to be beautiful. Plus, don’t miss at the end of the post, several of my blogger friends are also sharing their gift wrapping ideas too!
Choosing a color palette is really fun to do! This will allow you to be creative in your gift wrap paper and tags, yet it all tie together nicely. I chose red, black, white and natural paper for my color palette. I recommend using three different patterns within the color palette and including a small (polka dots), medium (check), and large (trees) pattern.
Investing in boxes can feel a bit of an overload, but they really do help the gift look beautiful. I choose shirt and blouse boxes for two different sizes. Feel free to use boxes you already have on hand too! We do a lot of online ordering for Christmas gifts, and for the most part, they come in boxes that are perfect to use with gift wrapping. But for those gifts that do not have a box, purchasing boxes is a great idea.
My mother-in-law taught me this trick! It is a game changer when making the present look nice and neat. In the photos below, you can see that anywhere the paper folds over the edge of the box, you will want to crease it. Further, folding the paper under when taping it to the outside of the box, hides any raw cutting to show.
Each of these presents has differing ribbon and twine (which I like!), but for the larger gift bows it is helpful to use wired ribbon. Wired ribbon will allow you to “fluff” it and also retain the desired shape of your bow. There are some great pre-packed ribbon options that include a mix of wired ribbons and other variance for your wrapping.
To top off the present, adding a gift tag is a must! It’s not just functional, but it’s like the icing on the cake. Again, taking the color palette you’ve chosen, pick out gift tags that will coordinate with your gift wrapping. There are also many great pre-packaged options available that allow various tags but within a similiar color palette.
