I wanted to create a welcoming, vibrant space that captured the energy of the season. With a few simple changes, I turned my porch into the perfect spot to enjoy the sunshine and greet guests with style. Looking at my porch before the updates, it was clear it had the potential but lacked that springtime vibrancy that makes the season feel special. There were no bright flowers or bold pops of color to really make the space come alive.

To bring my porch into spring, I didn’t start from scratch. With just a few thoughtful swaps, I was able to refresh the space and give it a whole new seasonal feel—and you can do it too! These simple changes made a big difference without a big budget or a full overhaul.
Layered Rugs – The easiest way to add dimension
Swapping out my old green striped rug and “Hello” mat was such a simple update, but it made a huge difference. I layered a buffalo plaid rug with a new doormat from Target—the Lovers Knot Coir Doormat in cream and brown—for a clean, modern take that still feels welcoming. It’s a little more styled, but still subtle enough to work all season long.
Oversized Lantern

One of my favorite updates was adding this oversized lantern by the front door it gave the porch a cozy, lived-in feel. It adds height, texture, and a subtle glow in the evenings that feels so inviting. It’s one of those small touches that makes the whole porch feel more intentional.

I placed them in the cutest planters from Target and because they’re different heights, the setup feels more layered and interesting without looking too uniform.
