This Easter season we are spending much more time at home. My mom’s thoughtfulness to drop off already boiled eggs and egg dying supplies, provided us the chance to create these beautifully dyed eggs. After the children were done dying them, I really didn’t have a container to place them in for Easter.
Then I found this basket that had been used probably in Easters past, but had some wear and tear. I knew this would be exactly the basket to hold our eggs in and within an hour it was complete. Upcycling items you already have is a win-win; it’s free and fun!
I had some pale peach paint already on hand + my mom (she’s amazing) had loaned us some additional colors to use so I added a bit of bright pink to liven it up a bit. I used a sponge brush which worked well, but for total coverage you probably want to use regular paint brushes to cover all the original paint color on a wicker basket.
Easter grass has really taken it to the next level! I found this paper grass at Target and it was so much better than the traditional plastic grass.
I added some white ribbon to give it a soft touch and it was done! You can see how well this worked to hold those bright dyed eggs. I love seeing it out in our home right now for Easter. Are you ready to try your hand at this simply DIY Easter basket idea?
