Happy Summertime, friend! Do you enjoy these bright, long days as much as I do?
Decorating your home for summer can bring some of that sunshine inside; creating a casual, inviting feel during these warm months.
I love the modern farmhouse style, so if you do too, these summer decorating ideas are for you! Specifically, how to decorate your mantel.
We added this frame TV above our fireplace not too long ago, and while it is a change from the days when I had wood signs as part of our mantel decor, we have loved it. Not only is it functional, but it looks like a framed piece of art when it’s off!
With this in mind, if you have a TV, I show you how to decorate with that. If you have a piece of art or mirror (or something else), that is your main, inspiration piece for today!
Let’s get started…
I love this footed bowl on our mantel, it is the perfect height to sit right below our TV (not blocking the screen). Make sure to measure the depth of your mantel shelf before purchasing your footed bowl!
Draping wood beads was really fun to do for this summer mantel. I used three different strands of beads, which added interest with various colors and sizes. The large mango beads are here, brown wood beads here, and chunky white beads here.
I teach you how to make a wood bead garland in this DIY tutorial here if you prefer to make your own!
I used two different kinds of ceramic vases to add height and interest to the mantel. You can find the tall white one here, and the smaller beige one here. If you want to add greenery to yours, you can!
Glass is a lovely look for summer! It reminds me of sea glass at the beach! I used a smaller glass vase to hold greenery on one side of the mantel, and a rattan-wrapped glass hurricane on the other side of the mantel.
Tall stems in the glass vase work perfectly to “anchor” the end pieces of our mantel. I simply draped a garland to add greenery to the other side of the mantel. It is on clearance here!
What do you think? I hope you will give these ideas a go in your own home this summer!

Your summer mantle looks beautiful, Brendt. I love the frame TV. A mantle makeover is on my wishlist for our home, including one of these TV’s so the big black box isn’t such an obvious eye sore.😉 Happy summer!
