If you have been following along with me for any amount of time, you know how much I love a cozy home. So, when I say that I have the secret to having a cozy kitchen, what do you immediately think it could be? A common response would probably be something soft like blankets or pillows.

But, for our family, the cozy kitchen idea I want to share with you all is having the right seating, specifically around our kitchen island.

Kitchens (especially here in the South) are made for gathering. And, it definitely applies to our family, as the kitchen is where we spend the most time together. Naturally, then, I wanted to provide a cozy place and feel that seating is key. Having bar stools around the island invites us all to sit and spend time together. This is what cozy is all about, isn’t it?!

Speaking of our kitchen island, we enjoy meals there or playing games. Sometimes our girls do their homework there, or Paul plays with his Lego’s. Over time our bar stools just kind of wore down, and we were ready to find some new ones. We knew that they had to function well to be cozy for our family. Bar stools are such a great idea for kitchens, aren’t they?! I knew I wanted a modern farmhouse style bar stool and one that would hold up for years to come.

There are several reasons why I love these, and feel like they create the cozy kitchen space we were going for when replacing our older ones. Below I’ve listed several reasons why I highly recommend them:

1. Modern farmhouse style with the X back and rattan seat, but I also feel they are versatile to adapt to several styles (especially with those curved legs!).

2. Extremely comfortable! That was the first thing both my husband and children said about them. This is important for cozy!

3. The weathered oak color was one that offered great contrast against the black granite and white cabinets; love this for extra dimension in this space.

4. The finish applied to these stools makes for a smooth feel all the way around.

5. The correct height bar stool! We realized that our old bar stools had been somewhat tricky to get in and out of; make sure you buy the right height for your island to maximize coziness!

All of these reasons (and more!) contribute to the cozy feel of our kitchen.

The secret to having a cozy kitchen is that it works well for your family and when guests visit. For our family, the idea of having casual, comfortable and durable bar stools meets this goal. We couldn’t be happier with what we found in these bars stools!
