This homemade mac & cheese is the cheesiest, most delicious recipe. The uncooked pasta cooks in the oven alongside the cheese, milk, and butter. When it is done, you are in for a treat. It is one our family has loved for years and so easy to make.
Years ago, when Pinterest had just launched, I came across this recipe that I’ve since adapted. It is one that I make every Easter (including this year even in quarantine 2020!), and is requested by my family throughout the rest of the year. I have to save up my calories for this cheesy goodness because it is truly that! I’ve loved mac and cheese since I was little, and plan to enjoy it on Mother’s Day as one of the menu items my family cooks for me.
Speaking of Mother’s Day, don’t miss at the end of this post, several other recipes that are perfect for Mother’s Day.
Preheat oven to 350. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
Cut your Velveeta cheese into 1/2″ cubes as shown above.
In a medium bowl, combine milk with melted butter. Add in salt.
4. Pour in UNCOOKED macaroni and Velveeta (isn’t it so nice to not have to boil the macaroni; it makes it so easy!)
5. Next, add in 2 cups of shredded cheeses and give it a good stir.
6. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.
7. Bake for 50-60 minutes (until macaroni is cooked and most of the liquid has been absorbed).
8. Take it out of the oven, remove foil, and top with 2 cups shredded cheese. Put back into the oven (uncovered) for another 10-15 minutes (until cheese is melted, golden, and bubbly).
And, it’s all done! Can you tell how much cheesy yummy-ness is in waiting for you?! Haha! It is so good y’all. We love serving this as a side for dinners and using the leftovers as lunch for the next day. This is the kind of food that any age enjoys…comfort food!
