Our children have always been interested in smoothies and it has been fun over the years experimenting with various fruits, yogurts and other add ins to see what they enjoy. Some have gone over well, while others, not so well haha! So the other day we had some bananas on hand and knew mixed with the right ingredients, I could try to whip up some creamy, cold smoothie to refresh them on these hot summer days.

For the summer months, who doesn’t enjoy juicy peaches too? So with peach greek yogurt in our frig, that was the winning combo for the day! To add a little protein, I tossed in some chia seeds as well. Sound delicious? It defintely was! I can’t wait to share with you the recipe. I know we’ll be making this banana peach smoothie again.

Before I share with you my recipe, I thought it may be helpful to give you the rundown on what general ingredients I use for my smoothies. These elements make up a smoothie (for our family), then you just play a game of mix and match to see what you like to put together!

  1. Milk (any kind, i.e., almond, coconut, cow’s)

  2. Fruit (fresh and/or frozen)

  3. Sweetener (nonsugar substitutes, sugar, honey)

  4. Yogurt (greek or regular)

  5. Ice

  6. Add Ins (some of our favorites include: peanut butter, almond butter, and chia seeds)

Now, I am going to share with you the recipe I used to make this delicious banana peach smoothie. It took taste testing to realize I needed another 1/2 banana to make it taste just right. Simply gather these ingredients below and blend! FYI: while I would love a fancy blender, we still have an older model one and it works fine!

Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2-2 Bananas

  2. 2 Tablespoons Honey

  3. 2 tsp. Chia Seeds

  4. 3/4 Cup Peach Greek Yogurt

  5. 1 Cup Milk (we used cow’s milk)

  6. 5-6 Ice Cubes

Ahhh! It is simply delicious indeed. Of the 3 children that were home to taste this new smoothie recipe, they all gave it a thumbs up. Paul even said, “I want more please!” …yay! This smoothie would be great as a meal substitute or an afternoon pick me up. With the added chia seeds, it has so many wonderful and nutritional benefits. Further, if you substitute almond milk for the cow’s milk and splenda instead of honey, you could cut out some of the sugar too.
