Hi, friend! I am so glad you are joining my patriotic summer home tour. This summer home tour is day two of a two part “Easy Summer Styling Home Tour” series that is hosted by my dear friend Kelly at The Tattered Pew. Throughout these two days, there will be a total of 13 summer home tours shared, each one full of inspiration. If you are coming over from my friend Jordan at Jordecor, welcome! We hope you enjoy this series as much as we are excited about sharing it!
Each summer, toward the end of June, I end up adding red, white, and blue to our home. You can see how I did this in our home last year in this post. Just a few weeks ago, I shared a warm and welcoming summer tour here that shared these similar spaces decorated with citrus colors. I enjoyed the bright and cheery look so much, but wanted to incorporate patriotic home decor into our home now as we are nearing July 4th.
As you enter out home, you immediately notice the red, white, and blue. You’ll find a sampling of these colors in the easy-to-change decor items such as pillows and vase fillers, and also in these red and white ticking pillows. Though themed patriotic pillows are cute, it’s not that budget friendly to invest in several pillows like these to only be used once a year. That’s why I enjoy these red and white ticking pillows because I use them again at Christmas. Having one pillow (sharing it below) that is truly patriotic is my recommendation versus several.
Last summer, I shared this foyer and entryway in a post found here. I like the “less is more” look for summer. So, I added splashes of red, white, and blue by using inexpensive American flags. It as is easy to just drop them into vases and terra cotta pots. I bought a few different sizes to add some height variety. For a detailed look at using flags in your decor, I shared how in this post here.
For our entryway area, you can see the patriotic pillow sits nestled between our other everyday pillows on the bench. This is the one investment piece I made, and will look forward to using it again next year. I also added a navy blanket to further tie in the color palette. Navy just seemed more festive than a white blanket for the patriotic look I was going for.
Moving into our dining room, I created a very simple patriotic summer tablescape. Using what I already had on hand, I simply added these fun red and white gingham cloth napkins. Tip: Investing in an everyday white dinnerware set that you love is worth the money! I use this set year round and simply swap out the place mats or napkins. White goes so well for all seasons and napkins and place mats are far less expensive than investing in seasonal dinnerware.
Who doesn’t love watermelon during the summer? Taking the dinner party outside is the perfect way to host friends and families that come over to visit. Our porch is ready for the 4th of July and you can read how I added patriotic decor to our porch here.
I am so thrilled you stopped by! Now, join me in touring my friend Jordan at A Blue Nest. You will love what she is sharing for her summer tour! And don’t forget to see who all is sharing for this series below!
I just love all your Patriotic decor! So festive and fun for Summer!!
Brendt your patriotic summer decor is perfect! I especially love that vintage pillow! Thanks for joining me and I can’t wait to see you in July!
Thank you so much Kelly; it was an honor to be a part of this series you so graciously hosted! I cannot wait to see you in just a couple of weeks too. xoxo-Brendt
Your home looks so summery cozy! I love your tip about the red and white pillow and the white dishes. I rarely purchase anything for my home that can’t be used more than one season!
Thank you so much for that feedback friend! I am so thankful you stopped by and wish you a wonderful rest of the summer!
