A couple of weeks ago, I attended a pasta-making class with some friends here in Birmingham, Alabama. I had never been to a cooking class, specifically a pasta one. I took note of steps along the way, like how the dough feels when the texture is just right, using the pasta press to roll the dough through, and how delicious it tasted!
It helped inspire me to try out this JOANN pasta tool kit. JOANN has a new line of pasta tools, and I couldn’t be more excited about sharing them with you! Below are the ones I used:
This JOANN pasta dough recipe for six people only requires eggs and flour! They recommended 4 eggs and 2.5 cups of flour for 6 people. The dough seemed to form well, and upon their recommendation, I did add a little lukewarm water to help smooth the part of the dough that was a bit crumbly.
Rolling the dough through the pasta machine was as easy as 1-2-3, plus it was a lot of fun. I just used the clamp they provided to attach it to our kitchen counter and then attached the handle to turn the pasta. My daughter and I worked together (but you can do it individually) and rolled the dough through the machine.
After we had the dough rolled, we used the pasta cutter roller to create our noodles! It was so smooth. Lastly, we separated the cut pieces and hung them on our drying rack. We let it dry for about 30 minutes!
Now to make our easy pasta recipe for summer. I just used what I had on hand; these are the ingredients we use when making our own pizzas.
I hope you feel ready to try making your own pasta; it is an entertaining way to spend time in the kitchen. Plus, you will enjoy your pasta even more when it’s been homemade by you! Let me know if you have an easy summer pasta recipe to share too. I’d love to check it out in the comments below.
