Springtime is all about warmer days and cool evenings, which has our family wanting to stay outside to enjoy this gorgeous time of year. The trees are blooming, birds are chirping, and new life has been breathed back into the world around us. One of my favorite parts of our home is our front porch, especially in the springtime. So, I am so excited to say that with this past weekend’s weather, it was the perfect time to create a spring front porch that would beckon us outside yet again.
To create a lovely spring porch, I wanted to infuse our porch with spring florals, cozy pillows, farmhouse style signs, and unique flower containers. The fast pace of our weekend did not leave much room to spend a lot of time on shopping around for these things, nor setting them all up, so I was excited when I found everything at JOANN. The vast breadth of florals and home/outdoor decor selection at JOANN made for a one-stop shop for everything I needed and easily allowed me to achieve the look I wanted.
I couldn’t wait to get home and set everything up. In under an hour our porch went from empty and unattractive to inviting and lovely. So, I want to share with you today how to instantly create a beautiful spring porch, too. Just follow these simple steps.
When I first walked into JOANN, I found this watering can pillow that was my inspiration piece. I was drawn to the pretty colors and its farmhouse style. This pillow (your inspiration piece) then guided all my decisions moving forward. For example, these pink tassel pillows were the perfect way to bring out the pink touches from the bike pillow. I wanted to bring the farmhouse feel across the space to the bench area, so I found this SEED AND SUPPLY sign which achieved it perfectly. So, start with an inspiration piece and let that be the guide on how you choose what you use from there, whether it is things you already have on hand or purchase.
A spring porch wouldn’t be a spring porch without florals! Although I love mixing real and faux florals, using faux for the majority of my florals during the spring suits us best. They are super easy to style and don’t require getting your hands dirty nor ongoing watering!
I had such a fun time walking through the floral aisles of JOANN; it felt like I was in a beautiful spring garden. There were so many florals to choose from that coordinated with my watering can pillow, but I was most drawn to the pink, white, and peach florals. I picked these, these, these and these.
Mixing sizes and shapes of your florals adds a great dimension. Pots are lovely to use, but don’t skip over the possibilities in using other, unique containers. I found many whimsical containers to place use, including these metal hanging wall containers, this 3-pot standing planter, and the coordinating teal enamel watering can. I then filled them with the florals and placed them evenly around our porch space. Other containers could be rain boots, galvanized buckets, and wicker baskets.
To complete your spring porch, adding little details makes for a big impact. The gray plaid throw is not just perfect to coordinate with the pillows but also there for those cooler evenings on the porch. A “Fresh Flower Market” pillow (similar) once again tied in the farmhouse decor and looks great with the rest of the decor. Lastly, one of my favorite parts of the porch is the DIY flower chandelier that hangs above the swing. I had the best time creating this chandelier, and you can access all the details including the supplies list and instructions here on the JOANN app. Don’t forget about adding a rug (or 2!) to your outdoor areas. They help anchor your space and of course are a soft place to put your feet. Lanterns and string lights are also a fun touch to your outdoor porch.
I hope that you enjoyed learning how to instantly create a lovely spring porch. It doesn’t have to be costly or too complicated to make your porch feel joyful during the Spring season. By implementing these three steps, you are sure to make your porch beautiful too.
