I cannot believe that it’s already time to start talking about all things fall, but I am sure excited that it is! Fall decorating is such a beautiful mix of warm colors, textures, and all things that feel cozy. I was so happy to kick off this season with creating a fall tablescape. For this tablescape, I wanted to incorporate fall florals, emphasizing a pumpkin/rust color orange, along with some pumpkins which I set on my table and at each table setting. I also added candles for a nice, warm ambiance. I love the farmhouse look and knew that the overall look would reflect this style.
I found everything I needed at JOANN! They had a wide selection of fall florals, plates and napkins, vessels to hold candles and flowers, plus their colors were spot-on for the look I was going for. They had budget-friendly options for the tabletop pumpkins I wanted to use, that were in line with my color palette and offered more texture. Each of these blended nicely with a farmhouse look, too! It was a win at JOANN, and I couldn’t wait to get home to set it all up!
Creating a lovely fall tablescape doesn’t have to be difficult or complicated. When you apply these five easy steps I am sharing today, you too can create a beautiful fall table for your family and friends to enjoy! Also, for your convenience, I have a complete product list at the end of this post so you can recreate this exact tablescape! Ready to get started?
As you can see in the photo above, I clear my dining table creating a blank slate. Once you’ve done that, you are ready to place your first piece which I’m calling the foundational layer. This can be a runner or table cloth/covering. I chose this gorgeous plaid fall runner and it had just the pattern and colors for fall! While I left the rest of the table showing, another idea would be to wrap your table with white or brown butcher paper for an outside of the box table covering.
The next step is to set each place at your table. One of my all time favorite tablescape tips is to invest in white dishes! This neutral color allows you to use it season to season and just add seasonal touches which are less expensive to give you a wonderful look! I layered my white plate on top of a barnwood charger, then added these adorable pumpkin plates atop the white dinner plates. Using my wood handled silverware and these coordinating pumpkin paper napkins, I was all set. See how easy that was?! Plus, the paper touches give off a casual yet festive feel!
For my tablescape, I found some beautiful pieces at JOANN to use. Think in sets of three when arranging your pieces atop your table. I set out three of these large glass jars first that would hold the florals. Next, I placed two different size amber glass vases (large one here and small one here). They are perfect to bring to life the rust/pumpkin color from the runner. Lastly, these warm orange wood candle holders (smaller ones here and larger one here) were a fun DIY project, as I spray-painted the base of these to soften their look on the table. You can see what they looked like before in the photo below, then scroll to see how they looked after spray-painting them.
Now that the larger pieces had their places, it was time to fill in the remaining spaces! I added more glass jars, but this time I used these smaller ones to hold small, white candles. I love the look of glass on tablescapes! It creates a nice, light feel among the heavier, fall pieces. Plus when the candles are lit, they reflect lovely at a dinner. I also added white pillar candles to the candle holders. Lastly, these adorable pumpkins came in set of eight, containing fall perfect colors and wrapped in a cozy sweater fabric. I placed these about the spaces that remained.
This is like the icing on the cake! Florals bring to life your tablescape, whether you use faux or real. I chose a collection of faux ones from JOANN. Their real-life look is captivating and I can use them over and over again. I chose to incorporate additional fall colors and added a pop of fall greenery. All florals are included in the product list below. One of my favorite things to do in any design I do? Add something unexpected or whimsical! That is exactly what I did with these yellow pom-pom flowers I added to the center glass jar arrangement. They add a happy touch, don’t they?!
By applying these five easy steps, you can create a lovely fall tablescape too!
