By just following the 3 easy steps I am going to share in this post, you can create a mantel that will be ready for fall! All you need is an inspiration piece, some additional items to fill in the spaces, and decor to sit at your fireplace surround. During the cooler months, I enjoy having a fuller mantel, but not one that is cluttered. These 3 steps will help you create a lovely and warm mantel for fall.

My fall mantel decor included garland (found here), a wreath (found here), large wooden sign (found here), and some additional items like pumpkins (found here), large basket and blanket (found here). I love having our mantel styled for fall, it is one of the first spaces people see when coming into our home. Are you ready to decorate your mantel for fall? Step One

Place your inspiration piece first on the mantel. This is going to be your big item that is the focal point of the entire fireplace. I chose this sign here, as I love signs that express the season’s message. What better words than thanks and giving for the fall?! I also hung this gorgeous wreath above the sign to give additional height and texture in the middle of the mantel.

Step Two

Fill in around your inspiration piece! I chose this coordinating garland found here, and love all the natural elements it uses. Oftentimes, people feel that garland can only be used at Christmas time, but it can be used throughout all seasons. Just chose a garland that works with that season (i.e, you wouldn’t want to use garland with lemons during the fall months). I also added wooden candle holders and candles to give some nice height. Those are my “fillers” along with the garland.

Step Three

Place items around the fireplace to complete the look! While you don’t want it to be cluttered, placing a few items creates a continuity to what is on the mantel. I chose on one side to add a large basket holding a chunky blanket (similiar one found here) while on the other side a farmhouse style table holding these 3 heirloom pumpkins. You can also use items such as lanterns with battery powered candles, galvanized buckets with fall pillows, or crates holding birch logs.

By applying these 3 easy steps, you too can create a lovely fall mantel. Think about pieces you may already have in your home! You do not necessarily need to go buy fall specific items unless you want to do that! Think in terms of colors, textures and other elements that when all put together create a fall look! Brass/gold mirrors and candlesticks, sticks found outside, and fresh pumpkins you may already have are all good ideas too!
