Having just gotten back from wonderful NYC, I enjoyed plenty of new sights, sounds, and tastes! It was fun to stay cozy and warm with plenty of coffee and hot cocoa while walking the streets of the city. With the city all dressed up for Christmas, it got me thinking about our annual Gingerbread House making party coming up in a couple of weeks. Not only is it a fun time with family decorating houses, I also get to set up a hot cocoa bar for kids and adults alike. It’s one of my favorite parts of this tradition. There’s something so nice about sipping on something warm (and yummy) when you’ve come in from the cold. It’s perfect for bringing about the festive spirit.

As I get fired up for our party and scout some hot cocoa bars that will help inspire me, I wanted to share them with you.

As a person who loves to decorate farmhouse style, these hot cocoa bars drew me in because they have both the practicalities of hot cocoa bars and they look beautiful. A few of the décor elements that I appreciate in these hot cocoa bars are:

  1. Use of Natural Elements: pinecones, logs, stump pedestals, greenery, and mini plants.
  2. Soft and Hard Textures: tablecloths, festive hand towels to mug racks, tiered trays, and glass jars.
  3. Farmhouse Items: Old sleighs, vintage scales, and wooden shutters.
  4. Words: Chalkboards, pennants, and food labels.

Overall these various elements give it a personalized and cozy look.

As far as the actual hot cocoa elements, these are some of my favorite pieces:

  1. Hot cocoa mix (of course!)
  2. Warm/Hot Water (keep toward the back so it's not near little hands)
  3. Candy canes
  4. White chocolate chips
  5. Whipped cream
  6. Mini marshmallows
  7. Chocolate syrup

There are plenty more to be found online, so happy hunting! (And for the finishing final touch, Pinterest is full of hot cocoa bar free downloadable labels.)

Have you created a Hot Cocoa bar this year or in years past? What would you add to this list? What other tips worked for you? I’d love to hear from you! Cheers!
